On March 11, 2011, in the Aires astrological sign of the zodiac, Uranus began a rare 6 to 7 year transit. Uranus is often referred to as “the awakener” because it ushers in new possibilities and changes in areas of your life that perhaps heretofore were static. December 21, 2012 signals the end of the Mayan calendar. While change is all around us these days, Uranus enables the change to be positively personalized. If one simply keeps their head and stays aware of what is happening and is able to take the appropriate action to maximize the positive influences, tremendous benefits can follow.
The Uranus Cycle
Areas of your life where your thinking has become stayed and rigid are shaken up by the Uranus transit. You may want to feel like digging a hole and jumping in it, but if you are open to the adventure of exploring your dreams and taking action, Uranus can be an inventor’s gold mine. During this cycle, domestic issues, relocation and relationship concerns can come to the forefront, like a chess piece taking center stage. Its your move Uranus says, now here are your unlimited horizons, but stay grounded during your wild creative flings.
Great Technological Advancements
Uranus was in Aires last in 1927. During that period the first overseas telephone call was completed, the Holland Tunnel opened to the public, along with Japan’s first metro line in Tokyo. Amelia Earhart was the first woman to cross the Atlantic and Lindberg made his first solo non-stop trans-Atlantic flight. The first television pictures- some in color- were electronically transmitted. Other advancements included aerosol sprays, antibiotics, talking pictures and the invention of the iron lung. Creating new technologically advanced products, and carving out fresh methods of using old but still vital systems can be the order of the day during an Uranus transition.
Uranus Awakens Everyone
You will feel the impact of this cycle in one form or another. Could be that you will want to take new and bold steps with respect to relationships, vocation or relocation. You are liable to suddenly feel “suffocated” or somehow restricted in certain areas of your life where you were quite comfortable. Past patterns and impulses may become revamped and new ; now hardly identifiable with the old ones.
Astrological Fire Dreams
There is a part of us all that wants something better and Uranus signifies and symbolizes that dream. Uranus is often identified with Prometheus and in Greek Mythology it was Prometheus who stole that fire from the gods and was punished accordingly, so stay grounded. Richard Tarnas, in his book Prometheus the Awakener; An Essay on the Archetypal Meaning of the Planet Uranus, notes that Uranus is associated with change, rebellion and freedom including revolution, and further states that it is the element of risk and excitement that defines the Uranus appearance.
Uranus the Wave Maker
Edgar Cayce was America’s famous “sleeping prophet”. In Margaret Gammon and W.H. Church’s book, Edgar Cayce’s Astrology for the Soul, Cayce was said to refer to Uranus as the planet of electricity, and that it can be potentially malefic. Seems this planet can directly or indirectly cause the combined efforts of a lifetime to collapse… as the old way must be cast aside in order to enable the new to enter. Institutional change is the order of the day with Uranus.
Let the Adventures Begin
Make journal entries when you get those creative flashes of energy and realize that like Prometheus, the bosses might not want you to get out of your rut and jump ahead. Its just a fact of life. So explore your ever expanding universe during this Uranus wake up call but by all means don’t forget to stay grounded. Trust your inner guidance but verify the outer probabilities and refine those vibrant new ideas and innovative plans where required. Stay focused, with both feet on the ground but also allow your little gray cells to partake of the rarified Uranus air.
Uranus Horizons
No matter what sign of the zodiac you are or where your north nodes lie, Uranus is sure to usher in change with a personal “P”. Expect some form of upheaval; in order to experience this in a good way, think of it as an exciting adventure, not something to be avoided. Dec. 21, 2012, regardless of the private interpretation, is said to be notifying us of an end to a long-tail cycle and the birthing of a new one. We have witnessed tremendous change in the past few years with institutions either dying or reinventing themselves and the informational age exploding with new “gadgets” and communication devices to keep us “wired for sound” in one form or another. Lets just buckle up and enjoy the ride.
